Hydroelectric Dam lawsuits settled
Lawsuits stemming from the controversial attempt to restart the Fort Dodge Hydroelectric Dam have been settled out of court.
Under the terms of a settlement announced Wednesday evening, the city government will pay Fort Dodge Hydroelectric Development Co. $80,000.
Fort Dodge Hydroelectric Development Co. will drop its lawsuit against the city in which it sought more than $800,000 in damages.
As part of the settlement, the city obtains all rights to further develop the dam.
A trial on the issue was scheduled to begin Tuesday.

Wait until the voters see you think $190,000 was too much, but losing $8 Million isn't. That kind of thinking makes you a loser in any election higgins. By the way, I didn't ask a single question at that meeting. Once they handed out the information they generated (The con-artists) it was a dead deal.

Oh, by all means Rich, let's follow your plan and let the city get soaked for $8 Million by these con-artists. Yeah, that's not ignorant. I hope everyone in your Ward reads this. The third grader next door could elected over you.

Paladin. You are at it again telling people how IGNORATE they are. 1. Now lets tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. 2. First it was voted by the people, and your local mayor wrote a letter to cancel it. 3. As you say they were CON-ARTISTS. Well here is my take, you were at the same meeting I was and also the Mayor was, and I thought they gave A GREAT PRESENTION and of course you ask a lot of off wall questions. 4. Did you check with you friend on the city council to see how much they pay for lawyers fees? I know how much do you? I see that amount was NOT printed in the Messenger. 5. This money also came out of the water funds. It sure costed us a lot of money to get back $190,000. As I see it when you add up the settlement and lawyers fees. The Mayor sure cost the residents of Fort Dodge a lot of money as we have a lot more inportant issues that are facing Fort Dodge. We sure could use that money some where else.

I don't see where anyone said it was good idea to begin with, just that the foolishness cost the tax payers, the same foolishness that resulted in your pretty vacant lot for nothing. It doesn't matter who made the choice, it's obvious the "new" leadership isn't any less foolish. And they get away with it because of a core group of cheerleaders who exist to deride dissent about their city and it's games because they can't face the truth.

Got to agree with Paladin on this one, however I don't usually side with him/her. It would have cost much more in the end if this project would have been allowed to go on.

"Again, the reactionary people jump on the website to show their ignorance" No, we're reacting to the Fort Dodge showing it's ignorance.

It was not the current mayor and council that hired these con-artists, it was the previous administration. Thanks goodness the current mayor and council saw through the flawed plan. Be thankful it only cost $80,000. If these people, who have admitted not knowing what they were doing, had been allowed to continue we would left holding the bag for a $7 million failure. Again, the reactionary people jump on the website to show their ignorance.

¡The city of Fort Dodge has been run so poorly for sooooooooo long, I really do believe that people are threatened anymore by attempts to improve it in a modern and professional manner. I also think it is absolutely hysterical that people are adopting the name "Casino Park" to remember a patch of weeds and the numerous failures connected to it!

You can thank your city leaders for wasting $80,000 of your tax money. Add that to the money they wasted creating a vacant lot off putting a man out of his business and home all for a casino boat you didn't have a chance of getting. Oh wait Anderson and the boys will be by to blame it on obama.
