LELAND A. ZEHR

Leland A. Zehr, 88, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday June 14, 2009 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17 at the Celebration Center, Friendship Haven with Rev. Anita Johnson, officiating. Leland's wishes were to be cremated following the service. A private burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Manson. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Surviving is his son, Hal Zehr and his wife Joanne of Green River, WY; daughters, Carolyn Uhlenbrock and her husband Jerry of Loveland, CO, Judy Heinze and her husband Marvin of Manson; daughter-in-law, Joyce Zehr of Fort Dodge; 10 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Eigsti and Irma Zehr, both of Manson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Silda (Schertz) Zehr; his wife Anna in 2006; sons, Jerry and Ronald; brothers, (RW) Wayne, Dean, Lowell and Francis.

Leland A Zehr was born April 9, 1921 in Manson, Iowa. He attended country schools in the Manson area. On January 3, 1943 he was united in marriage to Anna Birky in Beemer, NE. They established their home in Beemer until 1951, when they moved to Manson and later they moved to Fort Dodge where they made their home. Leland worked for Hormel's for 30 years, retiring in 1982 and in his spare time, he enjoyed collecting and selling antiques for many years.

He was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church.

Memorials may be left to Trinity Hospice.
