The drivers were ready and the track was in perfect shape Friday night at Mineral City Speedway. The stands were packed and the fans were treated to some entertaining races.
The feature events started out with the Hornet class taking to the track. Dustin Haggard led the caution free race from start to finish followed closely by Cody Wirt. Tyler Pickett flew to the third spot from his fifth row starting position.
Haggard crossed the finish line first, but was docked two positions for jumping the start. Pickett was awarded the win as he passed Wirt at the finish line. Haggard was scored in third.
Jess Bieret jumped out to the early lead in the Econo Stock feature, followed by Adam Suhrbier and Nate Evans at the finish of lap one. A caution was called for Suhrbier who spun on lap two.
Reicks went side by side with Bieret before making his way by to take the top spot. Colby Davis was challenging in the third position, but slowed suddenly on the last lap dropping to fifth.
Reicks would hold on for the win with Bieret and Jason Iehl finishing out the top three.
The Hobby Stock feature saw Merle Bass, Michael Becker and Todd Hillman in a close battle for the lead. Becker and Hillman made contact bringing out the first caution of the race.
Bass, Jeff Lyon and Kevin Berger were the top three at the restart.
Lyon bobbled and Berger took advantage moving into the lead with Lyon and Troy Krug close behind. Kevin Schmauss had moved into the top four and was able to get by Krug.
Contact between Schmauss and Lyon dropped Lyon to the seventh spot. Berger continued to lead and was able to hold on for his first Hobby Stock feature win.
Schmauss would cross the line in second, but was black-flagged for rough driving. This gave Krug a second place finish with Kurt Anderson scored in third.
Scott Forbes and Doug Bartles started on the front row of the 360 Modified feature and it was a close battle for the lead until Bartles grabbed it on lap two. Forbes fought back to steal the lead with Brandon Leeman and Andy Tiernan moving into the mix.
Forbes held a slim lead over Leeman and Tiernan and Bartles were side-by-side for third, but a caution would put them back single file. Forbes and Leeman fought side-by-side swapping the lead many times.
Forbes had a slight lead coming out of turn four, but Leeman was able to inch by to take the win at the checkered flag. Tiernan held his position over Bartles for third.
The Stock Car feature was the next event on the track with Larry Silbaugh and Ryan Leeman starting on the front row. Leeman had sparks fly as the green flag flew and was out of the race before he even got started.
Silbaugh took the lead of this caution free race while Jeff Zehr was able to get by Dave Hubbard for second. Jeff Deal moved into the third position while Zehr made his way toward Silbaugh.
Silbaugh held on to take the checkered flag with Zehr and Deal closing out the top three.
Dave Doughty took command of the Modified feature and appeared to have an easy win at hand. Scott Williams, Bill Crimmins, Jesse Hoeft and Justin Sackett were the remainder of the top five.
Crimmins went high losing several positions while Tyler Pemble moved his way forward to battle in the top five. A caution put the field back in line eliminating Doughty's huge lead.
On the restart Doughty began to slow and pulled up with a flat tire. Hoeft had the lead over Sackett and Brad Williams who had made his way up from his sixth row starting position.
Sackett challenged hard for the lead as he went side-by-side with Hoeft, moving into the lead on the last lap. Pemble moved into the mix inching by Hoeft for second.
It was still a tight battle to the finish with Sackett getting the checkered flag over Pemble and Hoeft.
