DES MOINES - William Lee ("Bill") Kilmer was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 6, 1956. Bill was the oldest son of Lowell and Doris Kilmer of Stanhope, Iowa. He graduated from South Hamilton High School in Jewell, Iowa in 1974 and Iowa Central Community College in 1976. Bill married Lisa Larson on May 25, 1984.

Bill passed away on April 14, 2009 following a motorcycle accident near his home.

Bill worked as a pressman at Printer, Inc. in Des Moines, Iowa. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and an accomplished league bowler, with six 300 game rings to his credit. He was a member of the British Car Club of Iowa and loved restoring his 1961 red Triumph convertible. Bill loved to travel, whether on fishing trips with his brother Jim or cruises with his wife Lisa and their friends and family. A music lover, Bill played harmonica and dobro lap steel guitar with a group of friends in a "garage band," often playing for neighborhood block parties.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents James and Lettie Munsinger; William Lee and Ruth Kilmer; his uncles Delbert Munsinger, Marvin Munsinger, Marion Munsinger, Rudi Kail, and his aunts Lois Kail, Ethel Munsinger, and Maxine Munsinger.

With his parents, those left to mourn his passing are his wife Lisa Kilmer; his brothers Jim (Dee) Kilmer and Brian (Janet) Kilmer; his sisters Janice (Damon) Ott and Cheryl (Brett) Mendenhall; his parents-in-law Dan and Janet Larson; sisters-in-law Amy (James) Reysack and Sara (Jeff) Olson; nephews Andrew Ott, Kevin Ott, Brennen Reysack, Zach Olson; nieces Jennifer Kilmer, Lisa Kilmer, Hannah Kilmer, Addison Kilmer, Bailey Kilmer, Erin Reysack, Autumn Olson; and many, many friends who will remember his zest for life, ever-present smile, and sense of humor.

A visitation with family present will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. 1st Street, Ankeny, Iowa. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 517 S.W. Des Moines Street, Ankeny, Iowa. On-line condolences can be made at www.mem.com.
