GENE ALBRECHT

ROCKWELL CITY - Gene F. Albrecht - 80, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at Mercy Hospice Johnston in Johnston, IA.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City with Rev. Richard Ries officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Friends may call after 4:00 pm Wednesday (Today) at the Palmer-Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City where there will be a Rosary at 4:30 pm and a Vigil at 7:00 pm.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Launderville and her husband Steve of Spencer, Marcy Burkhead and her husband Tim of Urbandale, Jane Schleisman and her husband Tim of Burnsville, MN, Mary Beth Delaney and her husband Chris of Ames; eight grandchildren: Bryan Launderville, Katelyn Launderville, Thomas Burkhead, Taylor Gene Burkhead, Joel Schleisman, Anne Schleisman, Janessa Delaney, and Quinn Delaney.

He was preceded in death by his wife Therese in 2001; parents, Fred and Martha Bleich Albrecht; brother , Kenny Albrecht; and a sister, Bernadine Dillon;

Gene F. Albrecht was born March 25, 1929, at the family farm. He attended Center No. 6 Country School and graduated from Rockwell City High School. He served with the U.S. Army stationed in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Therese Petted on February 6, 1954 at St. Francis Catholic Church. He farmed all his life 5 miles east of Rockwell City. Gene was a life time member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
