VERA I. FRICKE

GOWRIE - Vera I. Fricke, 83, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Shady Oaks Care Center, Lake City.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lanyon Covenant Church with Pastor Marc Murchison officiating. Burial will be in Gowrie Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.

Survivors include her daughter Peggy Law and her husband Marvin of Churdan, sons Jim Fricke and his wife Janet of Republic, Mo., and Craig Fricke and his wife Darla of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren Jill Borkowski of Everly, Kimberly Vasquez and her husband Marc of Kansas City, Mo., Heather Law of Curlew, Josiah Fricke of Des Moines, Corrine Fricke of Storm Lake, Eric Fricke of Cedar Rapids, Adam Fricke of Cedar Rapids and Kayla Fricke of Cedar Rapids, great-grandchildren Rebecca and Daniel Borkowski, Jakob Vasquez and Kalen and Sean Law; sister Cleo Swanson and her husband Rollin of Fort Ddoge, sister-in-law Gloria Harding of Rockwell City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Ada (Yule) Hade, husband Kenneth, brother James Hade and brother-in-law Wilbur "Bill" Harding.

Vera I. Hade was born August 31, 1925 at Harcourt and graduated from the Harcourt High School. Vera was employed at Central Tractor in Des Moines. On November 24, 1949, she was united in marriage with Kenneth Fricke, and they established their home in the Gowrie area. Vera was employed with the Webster County Recorder's Office, Gowrie Co-op Elevator, Palm Grove Elevator and Farnhamville Co-op Fertilizer Plant.

Vera was a member of the Lanyon Covenant Church and American Legion Auxiliary. Vera's acitvities included Sunday School teacher, 4-H leader, Cub Scouts, Blue Birds, Home Builders and church work.

Memorials may be left for the family's discretion.
