Two juveniles in hospital after bus accident
State Patrol is investigatingBy KATIE WILLIAMS, Messenger staff writer
A two-vehicle accident involving a Twin River Valley school bus sent two juveniles to the hospital Monday morning.
Lucas Pflibsen, 19, of Livermore, was driving south on Humboldt County Road K when he struck a Twin River Valley School bus, driven by David Halsrud, 61, of Bode, around 7:13 a.m.
Halsrud was northbound on 150th Street and was turning off of the gravel road when the accident occurred. A 6-year-old child that was riding on the school bus was sent to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries as a precautionary measure, said Trooper Kyle Kluender, Iowa State Patrol.
The 13-year-old passenger in the vehicle driven by Pflibsen was also sent to the hospital with cuts to the head, he said.
Kluender said an investigation into the accident is still pending and that excess speed was a possible cause.
The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, the Humboldt Fire Department and the Humboldt Ambulance Service all assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
