Timothy K. Leonard, 50, of Fort Dodge, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Creighton University Medical Center, Omaha, NE.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Carmody, Pastor of New Covenant Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be from 11 Saturday until the time of service.

Tim is survived by his best friend and partner of many years, Kay Jensen of Fort Dodge; his mother, Nancy Leonard of Storm Lake; brothers, Daniel Leonard and his wife Patty of Moville, IA, Kevin Leonard of Grand Island, NE, Brian Leonard of Farwell, NE; sister, Kathleen Bird and her husband Al of Glenwood, IA; nieces and nephews, Michael Leonard, Ashley Bird, Brooke Bird, Allie Bird, Heather Leonard, Brianna Leonard, Damon Leonard and Aubrey Leonard. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas C. Leonard in 1991.

Timothy K. Leonard was born January 29, 1958 in Watertown, SD. In 1972 the family moved to Storm Lake and Tim graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1976. He furthered his education and graduated from Buena Vista College, Storm Lake in 1983. Following his education he moved to Fort Dodge. Tim worked for the Youth Shelter Care of North Central Iowa as a Youth Counselor. He was currently the Family Center Services Director at the Shelter. He was also serving as an adjunct professor at Iowa Central Community College.

The children that Tim worked with throughout the years were very important to him, and they held a very special place in his heart. Memorials may be left to the Youth Shelter Care of North Central Iowa.
