U.S. Cellular offers $1 million to schools

December 15, 2008
Messenger News

U.S. Cellular customers who visit any U.S. Cellular store, including participating agent locations, to activate, renew or add additional lines can vote for the school of their choice to receive $100,000 between now and Jan. 15, 2009. By voting, consumers can decided which 10 schools around the country will share $1 million.

The program comes at a time when school districts across the country are feeling the pinch in a slowing economy. According to an October study from the American Association of School Administrators, two-thirds of superintendents described their districts as "inadequately funded."

All schools in the U.S., public and private, serving kindergarten through high school are eligible. Schools receiving the donation will be announced in February 2009. Each school can choose how it will use the money.
