POSTED: December 1, 2008

GOWRIE - Kyle Matthew Fevold, 22, of Gowrie was killed Friday night after a single-car accident on Greene County Road E53 near Jefferson. Marcus Alan Vincent Urelius, 22, of Farnhamville, was injured, and as of Sunday evening, remains in the critical care unit at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

According the Iowa State Patrol report, the accident occurred around 11 p.m. Friday night eastbound on E53, when the 2001 Chrysler 300 missed a curve, sending the vehicle into the ditch where it hit a utility pole and rolled several times before the vehicle came to rest in a field. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt and both were ejected from the vehicle. Yet to be determined is whether Fevold or Urelius was driving the vehicle.

Fevold was a 2004 graduate of Prairie Valley High School and attended WYO Tech Institute in Laramie, Wyo. He was presently employed at Harcourt Equipment where he worked almost a year.

"Kyle was a good employee," said Tom Rabbit, manager of Harcourt Equipment. "He was the type of guy that would just dig in on anything and go right after it. He never met a job he didn't like and he was a well-liked young man."

Pastor Jim Davis of Zion Lutheran Church, where Fevold was confirmed, said Fevold was a good, solid person to have around.

"He has been part of this community his entire life," Davis said. "He was very involved with 4-H in school and what he really enjoyed doing was anything with his hands. He generally had something going on."

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Gowrie, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Lost Grove Township Cemetery, Harcourt. The visitation is after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.
