EMMETSBURG - An Emmetsburg woman died after her car rolled several times Monday afternoon.

Rachel Marie Jackson, 21, was on her way to work in Cylinder when she lost control of her 1987 Oldsmobile on a gravel road. She was driving east on 390th Street, southeast of Emmetsburg and a little west of 470th Avenue, when she met an oncoming car.

Iowa State Patrol Officer John Skaar said it was unclear why she swerved away from the middle of the road around 2:25 p.m. and rolled her car several times into a ditch. He said speed may have been a factor in the accident.

Jackson was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. She died at the scene.

Visitation will be held today after 4 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the St. John's Cemetery.
