Bonnie Shaw Larson was born October 4, 1916 to Carl and Martha Shaw in Estherville, Iowa. She attended Estherville Public Schools and graduated from High School in 1933. After 1 year at Lutheran Bible Institute, she attended Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis with graduation in 1939. As a registered nurse, she worked at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge in general and private duty nursing. She even cared for some patients in their homes. Later she worked part time for 8 years at Friendship Haven in the Tompkins Memorial Health Center.

In May, 1942, Bonnie married J Alvin Larson. They farmed north of Fort Dodge for many years. Bonnie was a very caring person who encouraged all those in her life. Having accepted Christ at the age of 16, she was a beacon of faith and love. With great organizational skill, she combined being a farm wife, a loving mother to 4 children, a part time nurse, a Sunday School Teacher, a deaconess in her church, and a loving, encouraging friend. She had one deep supreme desire, "That I may be like Jesus." She loved to sing about that.
