FONDA - Two Fonda residents were arrested after police discovered a marijuana growing operation during a confrontation Sunday.
The Fonda Police Department received a call that Dallas Paul Wyatt, 24, was trying to harm himself with a knife. It was believed that Tausha Nicole Taylor, 23, fled the house with a 15-year-old male and a 4-year-old child and may have been hurt in the process.
Police convinced Wyatt to drop the knife and attempted to take him into custody. Wyatt began to fight with police and was stunned with a Taser in an attempt to bring him under control. He suffered minor injuries that didn't require hospitalization and was transported to jail.
The teenager was found unharmed and was charged with public intoxication. The 4-year-old child was unharmed and removed from the parents with the assistance of the Iowa Department of Human Services Child Protection Unit.
Taylor was found with cuts on her hands and body and was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, Storm Lake, by Fonda Ambulance Service.
A search warrant was executed at the residence and on the car registered to Taylor. Officers found marijuana in the basement of the residence and other items used to grow and sell marijuana. They also found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
In the car, officers located aluminum electrical wire, recently stolen from the City of Fonda, valued at more than $200.
Taylor also allegedly vandalized the residence with the child present and was believed to be involved with the drug activities.
Wyatt was charged with manufacturing marijuana and assaulting a peace officer while displaying a weapon, both Class D felonies. He was also charged with aggravated domestic assault, child endangerment, resisting arrest with injury, and keeping a premises for the use and distribution of a controlled substance, all aggravated misdemeanors.
In addition, he was charged with possession of meth and possession of stolen property, both serious misdemeanors, and possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both simple misdemeanors.
Taylor was charged with manufacturing marijuana, child endangerment, destruction of evidence, keeping a premises for the use and distribution of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Wyatt is being held in the Pocahontas County Jail on a $20,600 bond. Taylor is being held in the Humboldt County Jail on a $13,600 bond.
The Fonda Police Department was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, the Pocahontas County Sheriff's Office, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, the Wright County Sheriff's Office, the Laurens Police Department, the Pocahontas Police Department, the Eagle Grove Police Department, the Clarion Police Department, the Clarion Police K-9 and the Fonda Ambulance Service.
