Gowrie girl dies
Mother backs over 4-year-old accidentallyG0WRIE - A 4-year-old girl died Monday after her mother accidentally backed over her in a pickup truck, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The accident happened at approximately 5:20 p.m.
According to the State Patrol report, the driver, Heather Fevold, 28, of rural Gowrie, was backing up when Dakota Fevold, 4, also of rural Gowrie, ran to the passenger side of the truck. Heather Fevold did not see the child and continued backing up, striking the child. She then pulled forward to free the child, the report stated.
The child was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, according to the report, but did not survive.
The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Webster County Sheriff's Office and the Gowrie first responders and ambulance service.

In missouri, we heard of this tragedy from another Iowa mom caring for her child, displaced in a NYC cancer center. We wanted the family to know, that moms from all over the country are lifting this precious family up in prayer. We pray for your peace. In response to 'hybernation' - Dakota was a very free sprited, beautiful little girl. The article is correct. As a close friend of this family, I cannot imagine what they are going through. Dakota's brother and sister must be devistated - they are just barely old enough to understand what her being gone means. Heather and Will - I am so sorry for your loss. Every single thought and prayer I can offer is for the four of you as you grieve the loss of Dakota. May God be with you, and especially with little Dakota.

I am so shocked at this happening, words cannot express my disbelief, we just saw the family Saturday, and spoke with Heather who was so upset that she didnt get the horse she wanted for her daughter, my thoughts, prayers, and heart is with this family, I am so sorry.
