G0WRIE - A 4-year-old girl died Monday after her mother accidentally backed over her in a pickup truck, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The accident happened at approximately 5:20 p.m.
According to the State Patrol report, the driver, Heather Fevold, 28, of rural Gowrie, was backing up when Dakota Fevold, 4, also of rural Gowrie, ran to the passenger side of the truck. Heather Fevold did not see the child and continued backing up, striking the child. She then pulled forward to free the child, the report stated.
The child was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, according to the report, but did not survive.
The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Webster County Sheriff's Office and the Gowrie first responders and ambulance service.
