Law enforcement officials searched a home and adjacent abandoned lot in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood Friday morning, apparently in connection to a shooting on Sept. 20.

The home, at 1128 10th Ave. S.W., was searched by officers from the Webster County Sheriff's Department, Division of Criminal Investigation, Fort Dodge Police Department and Iowa State Patrol. The house, according to information provided by the Webster County treasurer's office, is owned by Linda McDonald.

Special Agent Mike Krapfl, Division of Criminal Investigation, said they had received information that led them to believe there was evidence at the home in connection with the death of Matt Huffman, 40, of Fort Dodge.

He said they did collect evidence but didn't release what items were collected or how they relate to the case. He also said no arrests were made.

Huffman died of a gunshot wound after being taken by private vehicle to Trinity Regional Medical Center early on the morning of Sept. 20.

According to information provided by the Fort Dodge Police Department, Huffman was shot while in the 1100 block of 10th Avenue Southwest

Police arrested 15-year-old Bryce Ladaris Gully on Monday in connection with Huffman's death and have charged him with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony.

Krapfl said they have not yet charged Gully with any additional crimes and the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators have not released how Gully and Huffman knew each other, if at all, or provided any possible motivation for the shooting.

''We have been getting great cooperation from the people in the area,'' Krapfl said.

He said information from the public has been extremely helpful and encourages anyone to share what they know in connection with the case.

Anyone with information should call Webster County Crime Stoppers at 573-1444.

A memorial fund has been established at the Frontier Credit Union, 13 S. Third St., to help care for Huffman's family.

Huffman was the father of four and was engaged to marry Melinda Chrzan, who has three children.
