Some Fort Dodge-based Iowa Army National Guard soldiers have moved to a staging area for Hurricane Gustav recovery efforts in Louisiana.
Detachment 2 of the 2168th Transportation Co. relocated to Camp Beauregard, La., Tuesday, the Iowa National Guard reported. The troops arrived in Louisiana Monday and stayed at Camp Minden, which was away from the storm's path.
About 465 soldiers and airmen from Iowa are converging on Camp Beauregard.
The Fort Dodge based soldiers operate flatbed tractor-trailer trucks that will be used to transport equipment and relief supplies. There are about 55 members of the Fort Dodge unit in Louisiana.
