BETTY L. HADE

GOWRIE - Betty L. Hade, 83, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at her home in Bickford Cottages.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, Harcourt, with Pastor Rod Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Lost Grove Township Cemetery near Harcourt. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie.

Betty was born May 31, 1925, in Independence, where she was raised and graduated from high school. She married Reynold N. Hade on March 18, 1944. Together they founded Hade Furniture and Funeral Home in Callender in 1945, and later established Hade Carpet and Furniture Store in Fort Dodge while farming the family farm north of Harcourt. They raised their family in Fort Dodge, moved to Harcourt in 1968, and retired in Gowrie in 1982. Betty moved to Bickford Cottages in January, 2008.

Betty is survived by her sons: Roger and his wife Jane, Harcourt, and Robert and his wife Leslie, Fort Dodge; and daughter Marcia, Fort Dodge; six grandchildren: Steven (Alison) Hade, Fort Collins, Colo., Chad (Misty) Hade, Ankeny, Maggie (Noah) White, Ames, Amy (Kelly) Winter, Waukee, Erin Hade, Portland, Ore., and Alison Hade (Fiance, Joey O'Brion), Fort Dodge; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Rey in 2003, her brother Richard Ruffcorn, and her parents Faye and Mildred (Parker) Ruffcorn.
