Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Deer Creek Township, with the Rev. Aaron Flatau officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Werner is survived by his wife, Marie; his children, Annette Fehlhefer of Utica, NE; Sheila (Dennis) Peters of Fort Wayne, IN; Werner J. (Susan) Bargsten of Jersey City, NJ; Marian Bargsten of Utica, NE; Marilyn (Blake) Bargsten of Utica, NE; Joey (Deborah) Bargsten of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by his step-children, Gayle (Tom) Rice of Maple Grove, MN; Laura Cruse Gossel of Thornton, CO; Robert (Kathryn) Cruse of Plymouth, MN and Russell (Sheryle) Cruse of Dallas, TX. His sister, Helen Hoyer of Fort Dodge also survives. Werner leaves 20 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Werner was born August 27, 1917, at Clare, IA to Henry and Martha (Meyer) Bargsten. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 42 years, Dorothy (Finch); two brothers, Martin and Waldo and sister, Esther Moench. He was also preceded in death by two grand-daughters, Tami Dinkleman and Heather Bargsten Crouse.
He farmed in the Clare area almost all of his adult life until moving to Fort Dodge in 1997. He greatly enjoyed socializing over coffee with his friends and playing cards and dancing in earlier years. He loved visiting with family and friends and seeing the progress of his grandchildren. Werner was a faithful, lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Deer Creek and Farm Bureau.
