ALGONA — Chad Trunkhill, son of Charles and Vickie Trunkhill of Algona, will be ordained into the office of holy ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church, 520 N. Garfield St., at 4 p.m. June 8.
A luncheon will be served in his honor following the service.
Rev. Dr. Dean Nadasdy, fourth vice president of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and senior pastor at Trunkhill’s vicarage congregation of Woodbury Lutheran in Woodbury, Minn., will preach.
Rev. Steve Turner, senior pastor at Trunkhill’s home congregation of Trinity Lutheran, will officiate the rite of ordination, with Rev. Jon Dunbar, associate pastor at Trinity as liturgist.
A hymn was written for the occasion by the music director from Woodbury Lutheran, Mark Shepperd, who will serve as organist.
The ordination worship service is open to the public.
Trunkhill said he is thankful for the prayers and support he has received during his preparation at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., where he has studied since 2004. He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree on May 16, and has received a call to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in St. Louis, as pastor of missions and outreach.
The rite of ordination is recognition by the church that a candidate is prepared, examined and called to a church. During the service, Trunkhill will make his vows.
