Marilyn Bonnell, 79, passed away on May 9, 2008 in the calming and peaceful surroundings of the Hospice facility at Trinity Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Sloan, Iowa, and graduated from Whiting High School and the University of Iowa, where she met her husband, Jack Bonnell. They were married in 1951 and made their home in Fort Dodge.
Marilyn was involved in various civic organizations including Study Club, P.E.O., Questors, Eastern Star (50 year member) and Assembly Club. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, and friend. She was full of life and love for all those around her, including her beloved golden retriever, Echo.
Marilyn will be deeply and forever missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered always as an elegant and gracious lady with a warm and easy smile.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Collison. She is survived by her brother, Jack Collison of Santa Ynez, CA. Her family was her passion and they all feel blessed to have been loved by her. They include her husband Jack, son Steve of Phoenix, AZ and his children Taylor, Alexandra, and Jordan; her daughter Janie and son-in-law Mark Brownlee of Fort Dodge and their children Jack and Jordan; and her son John and daughter-in-law Patrice of Scottsdale, AZ and their children Jake and Lauren.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gunderson Funeral Home on Monday, May 12. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 13 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge.
Memorials may be directed to Webster County Humane Society, Trinity Hospice and First Presbyterian Church.
