Newell-Fonda routs Alta



NEWELL — The ninth-ranked Newell-Fonda girls basketball squad reached the centurny mark in their victory of Alta Tuesday night.

The Mustangs (6-0 overall, 5-0 in conference) earned a 100-60 victory.

Susan Kies led the Mustangs with 19 points. Kies also shot two three pointers. Also for Newell-Fonda, Lauren Devereaux added 12 and Rachel Culp had 11.

Jordan Henningson paced Alta with 17 points while Jesse Bibler and Megan Phipps each contributed six for the Cyclones.

EAGLE GROVE — The Algona girls basketball team easily defeated Eagle Grove 78-34 on Tuesday night.

Laura TerHark paced the Bulldogs (6-0 overall, 4-0 in conference) with 24 points. TerHark also had eight three pointers. Natalie Hackbarth tallied 19 while Kristen Lipps added 14 for Algona.

Katie Locke contributed nine for the Eagles (0-5 overall, 0-5 in conference) and Polly Yackle scored eight.

CLARION — The Humboldt girls breezed past Clarion-Goldfield 56-37 on Tuesday.

Alyssa Myers scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats (4-1 overall, 3-1 in the North Central Conference) and Cammy Matters chipped in 10.

Arielle Olson led the Cowgirls (3-2, 3-2) with nine points and Cara Odland had eight.

Christina Streit led the Thunder (0-4 overall) with 11 points and Brittany Banwart added eight.

Stecey Schutjer paced the Tigers (5-1) with 31 points.

POCAHONTAS — The Pocahontas Area girls basketball squad sailed past Southern Cal 38-27 on Tuesday night.

Brooke Taylor paced the Maidens (2-4 overall, 2-2 in conference) with 19 points. Jenni Stumpf followed with eight while Kristen Youngberg contributed five for Pocahontas Area.

For the Mustangs (0-5 overall, 0-3 in conference), Cassie Schliesman led in points with 12 as Heidi Reynolds added five.

Panthers defeat

West Bend-Mallard



CORWITH — The Corwith-CWL girls basketball team earned a 58-47 win over West Bend-Mallard on Tuesday night.

The Panthers placed four players in double figures. Brittany Fett led the way with 13, followed by Chelcee Wilhite with 12, Stacy Rasmussen with 11 and Jessica Marty added 10.

Courtney Streit had 13 for West Bend-Mallard and Courtney Laubenthal added 12.

Andrea Mefferd paced the Knights (1-4 overall) with six points while Jill Erickson followed with five.

The Bulldogs were led by Audrey Winterhof who compiled 13 points and Leah Kai who contributed 11.
