Can we agree?

June 20, 2013

To the editor: Most of our Founders were opposed to organized political parties, both Jefferson and Washington, most vehemently, argued that ideological partisanship would rip our people and nation......

All depends on whether or not you have ANY principles worth defending; unfortunately, the principles upon which this country was found and grew to greatness have been constantly eroded by compromises with the "lefty extremists" 0f which Obama's "fundamental change" is the final stage: goodbye Federal Republic (and apologies to Benjamin Franklin). all the America haters here and American youth in general would benefit from reading Conrad Black's "Flight of the Eagle: A STRATEGIC History of the United States.

gssmms, I think people should be able to form their own words and thoughts without copy and pasting. There wasn't an attempt on my part to obfuscate. Those that understand realize I was pointing out that those that copy and paste, and cannot form their own words and thoughts, are merely parrots. They waste our time. That is not a discussion.

gssmms...The message of this ltte took a dramatic turn when the idea of "civil war" was introduced early on! Doesn't sound like much of an effort at "agreement" to me! That makes my response relevant whether you think so or not! Most Americans would agree with the message of this letter but the righty extremists have no intent to comply. Our President has been under continual attack since the first day in office! Because they (righty's) failed miserably in trying to steal the November election, now the talk is impeachment and to some, the threat of civil war! Seems to be a problem with maturity on the right!

Agreed, CG! I'd even be willing to have Congress recite this letter instead of the Pledge of Allegiance... since they obviously aren't taking THAT seriously!

It would do the citizenry good to take a few steps back from their party lines as well!

Also, Barleycorn, are you implying that hbockoven is a contributor to Wikipedia's content or author or editor thereof?

Is that why you asked if hbockoven copies and pastes FOR Wikipedia?

Barleycorn - do you have a disagreement with hbockoven's source you'd like to offer... or a rebuttal of the facts presented... or, perhaps, some other substantial contribution to the discussion at hand?

I'm confused as to your motive motive behind the trite attempt at obfuscation of the real topic & discussion? Would you please clear that up for me, please, and let me and the others know how your comment contributes to this issue? Thanks!

bububud - Unfortunately you seem to have jumped right past the message presented in the LttE and into a vicious partisan attack.

I'm concerned that your immediate attack on hbockoven, whether the voter fraud premise you present is factually accurate or not, you have just rendered yourself and your comments irrelevant to this particular LttE.

hbockoven...To even suggest a "civil war" is silly and irresponsible! Oh ya, I know there are plenty of righty's just itching for an excuse to start shooting, but America will make changes as we always have, through the ballot box...remember, it was the Republicans who were trying to prevent many from voting last November, a little research will bear that out if you care to look! So pro constitution of them! I believe ALL Americans should have the right to vote for change...which way would your little "civil war" take us? Disgraceful comment!!

hbockoven...To even suggest a "civil war" is silly and irresponsible! Oh I know there are plenty of righty elements who are just itching for an excuse to start shooting, but Americans will bring about change as we always have, through the ballot box as long as ALL Americans have that right...remember, Republicans tried to prevent the right to vote to many last November! Is that the republic you would choose coming from your little civil war? Disgraceful!!

Political Parties have never been there to help the Country. They were organized only to increase a politicians chance of being elected. Period.

What gets me is that the democrate and the republican polititions have reduced themselves to acting like spoiled little bratty children. It gets worse every election. But this year really takes the cake...I think we're headed for a total meltdown. How can we ever come back from that?

This letter should be required reading for every citizen in this country! And ESPECIALLY those in Congress!
