I guess the apartment idea is better than the usual demolition to make way for future development that we see in FD. I keep thinking how we always hear about how the current city hall is too small in many ways so, why don't they move the operations of the city hall and maybe even police station, into a remodeled middle school just like Ames has successfully done. Then, hire an architectural firm from somewhere out of town a ways(for some fresh ideas) to come up with great new looks, feel, appeal for the old city hall and the middle school that wasn't used as city hall. Council meetings could be held in a nicely renovated auditorium instead of a broom closet like it is now. I bet the old city hall could make some cool, urban apartments downtown. Put a coffee shop in the old garage part. This is another opportunity presenting itself to FD but, will FD make the right call???
