Wants better snow removal

March 14, 2013

To the editor: I would like to thank the city of Fort Dodge for the additional wear and tear on my vehicle due to the lack of winter weather preparedness. The roads in town are horrendous....

TAXEDENOUGH

This is Thursday and a lot of sidewalks are still not cleaned. Drive down 5th ave. south and it is terrible. Complaining to city officials seem to go pretty much nowhere.

I have less of a problem with the city plows than I do with residents who won't clear their sidewalks. If you walk, you will notice that they often clear their driveways and accesses to their cars while ignoring the public sidewalks. If we need money in the city coffers, how about fining these lazy folks?

This is from the same patriots who complain about their taxes being too high.

We did not have a hard time getting out and shoveling our driveway and sidewalks on Monday morning before work. Fort Dodge really is a disgrace. I recently visited Rochester during a 10" snow storm and they had their plowes out the moment the snow started coming down. The continued to plow and clean the city sidewalks so that all could get to their appointments on time and safely. I really feel that Fort Dodge does not care about the residents of this town except to collect taxes from them. Given the opportunity I would move the h### out of this town.

Seeing Ft.Dodge compared to Rochester is quite funny. Considering the obvious size difference I am almost positive that Rochester not only has more funding but more employees to spread out the work load. The city employees who are able to run the equipment run themselves ragged with round the clock shifts. Of course the streets aren't perfect but the employees do as much as they are able to with what they are provided with.
