Are you kidding me? Disposing of the males in a humane manner?!! What a joke! If you are going to do that, why not give them to people who would like to raise them for fryers!?

They are a hatchery for the big laying houses aka egg factories.

Way back in 1945-47 we used to haul dead cockerels out of the Gowrie hatchery by the barrels full, just suffocated, suzeque, because even then they weren't efficient meat producers and not many were needed for breeding. It's why chicken is still the cheapest meet you can buy and pullets are both for eating and laying. You eat a lot of soya curd, per chance?
