January 29, 2013

Two years ago President Barack Obama warned that unless he got his way from Congress with an unqualified increase in the national debt ceiling, terrible things would happe....

As Rubio so aptly put it, BigSlik, with Obama, all things will be free but us.

Sorry to bore you, bubu; your time would be better served were you to read a few of the volumes I have recommended rather that just tuning into - and regurgitating - MSNBC all the time.

As usual, bububud and I have little in common other than our Vietnam service. And like jamesf, I'd be interested in your list of what BHO has given us, other than higher taxes, a more tyranical government. He's taken away more than he's given.

Do you find it interesting, bubu, that Pugh research found that more educated Americans trust Fox News more than any other news source? Are you an exception to the rule or just less well educated?

Just read some articles about Zimbabwe only having $ 217 dollars left in their treasury.

Embarassing that it puts them approximately $ 16,500,000,000,217 ahead of our bank balance.

This was the country that printed Z$100,000,000,000 and a Z$21 trillion bill due to their hyperinflation... the largest rate of hyperinflation ever recorded in history, estimated to be 6.5 sextillion percent in mid-November 2008, if I remember correctly.

So, I recommend we stop this sideshow "R vs. D" war, and get on with some real solutions... soon.

Past Debts or Today's Deficits... Congress or Executive Branch... Blue State or Red State... we need some solutions, and they're most likely NOT going to come while we're bickering with one another over who's fault it is. I live in a Constituional Republic... I have the kind of leadership that I (and we) choose.

I am a citizen. It's MY fault. I voted for the wrong guy. I am to blame. I apologize.

Now, can we PLEASE move on to an econ

BigSlik1944...Just what does being a veteran have to do with the 2nd amendment? I'm a veteran (Vietnam) who believes there are limits to its intent, unlike you. What has the leadership under President Obama brought to Americans? I could give you a whole list, but you have been totally consumed by righty extremist hate, so why waste my time. Take you blinders off, turn off FOX, and clear your mind...that would be a good start to becoming informed. Question what you read or hear once in a while...it's not hard! Use today as your new starting point..A new and better BigSlik1944! Good Luck, bud!

Baloney, FtDlover; are you not following the debt/spending debate? With Obama, it's always threat and intimidation, just as when he was a "community organizer" in Chicago. To him, negotiation means "my way or the highway. He has never believed in a limited federal govt as set forth in the Constitution and the Tenth Amendment, as, clearly evident in his teaching it's "inadequacies" at the U of Chicago and in his actions now as President, e.g. his unconstitutional appointments of NLRB Commissioners and Consumer Protection Agency head, the subsequent arrogance of his NLRB "illegals" that they simply intend to ignore the court's finding, and Obama's personal arrogance in renominating the Consumer Protection guy the Senate would not confirm earlier.

The President is not freely spending money. Congress determines and authorizes spending levels. The President works within those parameters.

wkupia, I didn't ask ANYBODY! On Facebook, there are veterans from my division and even battalion that feel the same way I do. And as for BHO's aiding the enemy, all you have to do is watch the news and you'll see where he's sending that equipment and money. If that isn't treasonous, please tell me what is. Like I said, it's your opinion which veterans for years have fought for you to have. You have yours, I have mine.

Here is an interesting Obama quote: "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills." That was Sen. Obama, March 16,2006 when the debt was a mere one-half of what it is today.

Please publish Obama's exact threatening words - seems the bullying tactics of ALL politicians leave alot to be desired. By the way BigSlik - IDID ask my brother who happens to be a vet! Guess you asked just the ones that you knew would agree with you!

wkupia, ask any vet out there and I'm pretty sure you'll see the majority agree with me. He's after our 2nd Amendment, he's giving money and weapons to Egypt (the Muslim Brotherhood) whose goal is to destroy Israel. You want to praise him, that's your option. It's my option to dislike him and all he stands for.

Obama isn't the problem, it is our corrupt political system that make deals to the big donors for campaign money. Our whole system is becoming corrupt and the voters keep electing the same people and parties that got it that way. The Messenger is a Republican paper so they are not going to say bad things about them. People don't put much faith in a newspaper that is all one sided.

You do realize that the debt ceiling has nothing to do with the deficit, right? You also realize that it has no connection to raising or lowering the debt either, right? It's merely authorization to pay the existing bills. They're already figured into our national numbers.

Duh.

bububud, just WHAT has BHO done that is good for this nation? He's driven us into more debt, he ignores our Constitution and he gives aid in the form of money and weapons to our enemies. This is out and out treason and needs to be stopped. Once again, take off those rose-cp;pred glasses.

I don't recall Messenger concern about spending while the Bush/9% approval rating Cheney administration along with their Republican controlled Senate and House doubled the national debt! Informed readers know much of todays spending finds its roots in the B/C administration!

The American public was gullible enough to elect him not once, but twice. So its no wonder he can BS his way to get what he wants, even though a seeming minority realize the increasing debt will sink our ship of state.
