I remember when our superintendent also taught a couple of classes; the principal, pretty nearly a full schedule, and both were coaches, too. Suppose there is some state or IEA work rule against that now; it's how bureaucracy grows and creates more and more expense and waste. Meanwhile, that school has dropped from the 99th percentile on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills to below the 50th percentile recently. But as the Sup said, they "have to educate everybody nowadays"! Seems he didn't know the difference between an absolute score and a percentile or, apparently, that every other school "has to teach everybody," too. Any wonder our schools don't measure up? Suppose the new sup will be residing in Carroll or Jefferson, as well. Sad.

With school districts with less than 300 kids why have a superintendent at all?
