And nothing more difficult for pointy heads to understand and accept than plain common sense; also, for most Senators and Congressmen with whom King must associate, eightball (an appropriate appellation, it would seem - idiot, indeed).

Unlike you, letstalk, I speak from experience, e.g. I was applying immigration law very probably before you were born when presidents were actually applying and enforcing laws. I note now that 5 million Israelis are building a new barrier across the Sinai to keep infiltrators out & already HAS 479 miles around the West Bank and Gaza that actually works- but 310 million here cannot build an effective barrier here? As for flood insurance, I had federal flood insurance (elev. 13'6")for years only because the irresponsible went bare rather than pay the unsubsidized pvt premium. When the feds did up the premium, many squealed like stuck pigs - I said if they can't afford it, move (stupidly, FL set up a state system!) I ran two US companies abroad and KNOW what disadvantages our tax system imposes on domestic producers. "The Govt is my shepherd, I shall not want" is your and too many others' gospel these days, prayers that remain unanswered all around the world. Speaking

King can't get anything added to a bill. He has no clout. He is just a fool and an embarrassment.

Anderson the federal government has a "monopoly" because private insurers would not write flood policies! It was not a takeover. Similar to federal government covering the but of nuclear power facilities because no private company was willing. Geez another function of government. I'm glad you realize we are obligated to pay, remember that when it comes debt ceiling time!I'm glad we agree it should be tax reform not wiping out federal income tax like Rep. King is proposing. Re lefty community activist namecalling and social services, wow and in same breath as "ideologically-based assertions" your words speak for themselves. Social services would include mental health, food, clothing, shelter provided not ACORN voting drives. Community development would be used for sewers, gas, new police stations, fire stations. Educate yourself please about your ideological assertions!

Congress & federal bureaucrats haven't been able to manage SS, the US Postal Service, Katrina disaster aid, community development funds, the affordable housing program and, now, the Federal Flood Insurance program and Sandy disaster relief properly. Surprised? King is correct: as our monopoly flood insurer, the federal govt IS OBLIGATED to pay up just as any private insurer is, but let us hope that Congress strips the remainder of the Sandy relief package of all earmarked pork, not least the $17 BILLION for left-wing community activists, organizers and agitators under the guise of "community development" funds and so-call social service grants. And "anchor babies" ARE an unjustified incentive to illegal immigration just as as a zillion "tax deductions" are an incentive to wasteful, otherwise unprofitable investment. Also, tax reform is needed to get us in step with foreign competitors - better ideas, anyone, or just more ideologically-based assertion

Unfortunately his colleagues took him seriously to put him in charge of oversight on Tom Vilsack's Dept. of Agriculture and just wait FOOD STAMP funding committee.

And people actually voted for this guy. At least I can say the majority of voters in Webster County didn' vote for him. He is so far out there that none of his colleagues take him serious. Make people wonder what kind of a hick state Iowa is.

King wants cuts somewhere else to pay for aid to the NE storm victims?...How about starting with farm subsidies? Free market?...end farm subsidies!

Well I'll be it looks like Steve King "evolved" since voting against Katrina aid in the name of fiscal responsibility. Don't let it fool you. I'll guarantee you he'll vote against raising the debt ceiling to cover the payments on the loan he just supported. What's remotely responsible about that?
