We Want Your Recipes

News
Hey, Messengerland cooks, it's getting close.
Entry deadline for our "Holiday Cookbook" is Nov. 5.
We want your favorite recipes for our cookbook, which will appear on Dec. 7 in The Messenger and Dec. 8 in the Daily Freeman Journal. A panel of judges will choose what they think is the best recipe in each of nine categories, and the person sending in each of those recipes will win a $50 gift certificate. Entry deadline is Nov. 5. No recipes will be taken after that date, even if they were mailed earlier.
Recipes may be submitted by e-mail or snail mail. E-mail entries should be sent to The Messenger at lifestyle@messengernews.net or to the Daily Freeman Journal at lifestyles@freemanjournal.net. Notice the difference ‹ lifestyle at The Messenger and lifestyles with an "s" at the Daily Freeman Journal. Snail mail may be sent to The Messenger, Holiday Cookbook, P.O. Box 659, Fort Dodge, IA 50501 Categories are appetizers, cookies, desserts and candy, holiday recipes, meat and main dishes, pastries and bread, soups and salads, vegetables and miscellaneous.
Cooks may enter only five recipes - all five in one category or spread among the categories. When recipes are sent in, they should be typed or printed. Do not write. Be certain all amounts are given in proper terminology - a handful of flour won't do. Exact amounts are necessary. Cooks often tweak a favorite recipe, but when they write the recipe for someone, they forget to include the added ingredient or changed amount. Please don't let this doesn't happen to your recipes.
Any questions can be answered by Sandy Mickelson in Fort Dodge by calling
