Karl L. King scholarships announced
The Karl L. King Scholarship Foundation awarded $2,000 in student scholarships at the Karl L. King Municipal Band concert April 13.
A $1,000 scholarship to an Iowa college of choice is named after Karl L. King. The winner is Marjorie Halverson of Storm Lake High School. She will attend Wartburg College.
Two scholarships of $500 each were awarded to Travis Zinnel and Susie Dencklau. Zinnel is an Iowa Community College freshman from Dakota City. Dencklau, of Fort Dodge, is a freshmen at Iowa Central.
One of the $500 scholarships to Iowa Central is endowed by Dr. Greg Olson in memory of his parents, Everett and Dorothy Olson.
The second $500 scholarship is endowed by Norma Helmich in memory of her son, Steven, a talented high school vocalist who passed away suddenly days after singing the lead role of Professor Harold Hill in the musical ββThe Music Man.ββ
