Wet conditions hinder aquatic center
Wet ground has slowed the construction of the aquatic center in Fort Dodge. Construction crews recently removed some top soil at the site, but found the ground underneath to be too wet to work in. Lori Branderhorst, the city’s director of parks, recreation and forestry, said construction is expected to resume Monday. She said that the center should still be ready to open on June 1, 2010. The $8.95 million center will be near the intersection of North 32nd Street and 10th Avenue North. It will feature three pools, a channel called a lazy river and a variety of slides and water toys.
