Shyrock arrested on drug charges
EMMETSBURG — An Emmetsburg man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop early Friday morning.
Matthew Kenneth Shyrock was charged with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing contraband, the Palo Alto County sheriff’s office reported.
A deputy stopped Shyrock at 12:50 a.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 18 near 380th Avenue after he failed to dim the headlights on his 1998 Pontiac Bonneville, the sheriff’s office reported. He was initially taken into custody on the marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges.
The sheriff’s office reported that after Shyrock was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail it was discovered that he introduced contraband, in the form of a change purse containing a controlled substance, into the jail building. He was then charged with possessing contraband.
