School will key on four areas
By SARAH GENGLER, Messenger staff writer
Sister Delores Hannon emphasized four areas that St. Edmond is working on during the school year to help make the school better than it already is.
‘‘We’re continuing to do things that we do every day,’’ Hannon said, ‘‘but we are looking at how to learn in different ways as well.’’
The school is mandated to have two types of testing according to Iowa education standards. St. Edmond currently uses the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills and has added Measure of Academic Process computer testing at the high school level.
‘‘It breaks down what the school is doing curriculumwise and not exactly what a student is doing,’’ she said. ‘‘We are using a spiraling system with the students and it is working very well.
