Choralaires Concert
December 5, 2009

Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000149 EndHTML:0000001831 StartFragment:0000000199 EndFragment:0000001797 StartSelection:0000000199 EndSelection:0000001797 The Choralaires will open their 28th concert season on Saturday, December 5th at 7:30 P.M. and Sunday December 6th at 2:30 P.M.
Both performances will be presented in the Clarion United Methodist Church located at 201  3rd Ave. NE.
This year’s Christmas concert is titled “Bethlehem’s Star” and will feature a pleasing variety of music for the Christmas season.  The concert opens with the lovely voice of Kay Owen singing “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence” followed by The Choralaires’ rendition of “In the Silence”, a very tender and moving selection featuring flautist, Jennifer Littlejohn.  The first portion of the concert will also include arrangements of “Star of Bethlehem” and “Joy to the World” and will conclude with Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”.
After a brief intermission, The Choralaires will return to sing several popular songs of the season, concluding with a spirited arrangement of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.
The Choralaires vocal ensemble is accompanied by JoAnne Olson of Clarion and directed by Karen Strempke of West Des Moines.  Also accompanying the group are guitarist, Lindsey German, and percussionist, Andy Young, along with trumpeter, Troy Kowalski; trombonist, Sonja Hofmeister; and saxophonists Monte Leichsenring, Austin Keller and Grant Sebby. There is no admission charge.  A free will offering will be taken.
