Honor Flight succeeds again

To the editor

Another successful Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight — our 17th. We cannot list all of the volunteers that have made this such a successfull venture. There were four WW II, nine Korean, and 121 Vietnam veterans on this “trip of a lifetime.”

What a wonderful sight to see so many greeters at the Fort Dodge Regional Airport when our veterans returned. With few exceptions, our returning veterans have never had such a “welcome home.” God bless all of those persons who met our returning veterans at 10:45 on a Saturday evening.

The list of volunteers is too lengthy to list in fear of forgetting someone or some organization … you know who you are. Thank you one and all.

Without each of you, the flights would not be successful. “We” owe so much to our veterans. Our veterans were not men or women who went to war — they were 16, 17, 18 and 19 years old. They were drafted or joined as kids, trained as kids, but fought and died as men and women. We have much to be thankful for. All of our freedoms have been bought and paid for by our veterans.

Lest we forget– thank our veterans before it is too late. When a veteran dies, there is a whole library that is closed forever.
