A MAGWED thank you
To the editor:
Another MAGWED is officially over. This was year number 43. We were worried about the ice on the lakes going out, right up to the weekend before. According to Mike May at Triggs the last of the ice went out the weekend before the tournament. It turned out to be a beautiful weekend. The water was a bit cold, but some great fish were caught. Rumors of a certain 40-pound Muskie being caught, by a certain committee member. But no pictures were provided for proof.
The MAGWED committee would like to thank all the sponsors this year. A very large thank you to Mike May at Triggs Resort on East Okoboji for being our host every year. A special thank you to Roger Brown for sponsoring the youth prizes again this year. Without these sponsors, we would not be able to have this yearly event. They are, Beisser Lumber, C&S Products, Randy and Windi Cerwick, Chesterfield Bar & Grill, Countryside BBQ, Creative Signs & graphics, Crimmins Welding, Daniel Tire, Domino’s, Fareway Grocery and Fareway Meat Department both of Fort Dodge, Farell’s automotive, The Messenger, Green Amusement, Harty’s Caddy Shack, Howards Body Shop, Humes Distribution, Iowa Outdoors store, JA-Mar Drive Inn, Kemna Auto, Kesterson Realty, Laurens Lanes, Moeller Furnace, Bobby & Dian Nowell, Northern Lights, Olde Boston’s, Pepsi-Cola of Fort Dodge, Precision Machine and welding, Taco Tico Restaurant, TC Mae’s, Tom Thumb Drive Inn, Zakeers Restaurant and the Denny Vincent Memorial.
Our volunteers are also a big help and deserve some recognition. Thank you to Windy Cerwick, Sue Thoma, Matt Thoma, Carol Angstrom, Bob Meyer, Matt Chellean, Jill Angstrom, Julie Barkema, Jeff Weiss, Rusty McNeil and the Iowa Central Communication class.
This year was a tough year for MAGWED. We had two passing’s in our small family. John Thoma an active and original Committee member, passed away in December. Rhonda Peterson a silent member and very active volunteer passed away in April of this year. This year’s tournament was not the same without them here.
The MAGWED Committee thanks each and every one of you.Remember–It’s all about the kids.
