To the editor:

On behalf of the Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation, I want to extend a big thank you to everyone who supported our recent fundraiser. The fourth annual Go Big, Go Dodgers event was held on April 6 at Fort Frenzy. Not only did we raise more money for the schools than in the past, but I believe we had more fun with the addition of live music. We will continue to build the event with the support of our wonderful community.

FDCS Foundation’s mission is to enhance education in our public schools. We help educators and students go above and beyond what district funding allows, but just as importantly, we give teachers hope. Hope leads to inspiration. We encourage our teachers to dream BIG and we will find a way as a Fort Dodge community to financially support those ideas. FDCS Foundation will have the opportunity to grant funds to teachers in May and I look forward to the teachers’ positive energy and passion for their calling.

Our public schools impact the entire community. We all benefit from students of strong character and readiness to contribute. I encourage everyone to give to our local schools and shop locally to continue to build Fort Dodge into an even stronger community. I hope to see you at our event next spring.
