A MAGWED thank you

To the editor:

MAGWED 42 is in the books. Another shout out to all who helped make it a great event. It’s the best day of the year (accept for Christmas). From the committee, volunteers, and the participants it was a great weekend for fishing. The weather was perfect but the fish were not cooperating. Even though it was a slow fish day there were some impressive fish weighed in. Due to the slow fish day I personally caught a few naps in the boat.

The MAGWED Committee would like to thank all the sponsors this year. Without them we would not be able to have this yearly event. They are Advanced Auto Parts, Lynn Anderson, Bob Brown Family, B&L Drive Thru, Paul Electric, Bruce and Paula Oldson, Randy and Windy Cerwick, C&S Products, Creative Sign & Graphic, Chesterfield Bar & Grill, Crimmins Welding, Countryside Bar-B-Que, Domino’s-Fort Dodge, Daniel Tire, Double Action Defense-Algona, Joe Fleming, J-Mars Drive In, Fareway Grocery-Fort Dodge, Bill Gibson, Green Amusement, Humes Distributing, Steve Hanson, Joe Harvey, Hartty’s Caddie Shack restaurant, Hi-way Truck, Howards Body Shop, Iowa Central Community College, Iowa Outdoors, Denny Vinson Memorial Fund, Kemna Auto, Kesterson Realty, Dana and Paula Lindner, Napa Auto-Fort Dodge, Bobby and Diane Nowell, Northern Lights, Precision Machine & Welding, Pepsi Cola-Fort Dodge, Riley-Armstrong Plumbing & heating, Taco Tico, Tom Thumb Restaurant. A big shout out to Mike May and the folks at Triggs resort in Okoboji for hosting the event again.

Our volunteers are also a big help and deserve some recognition. Thank you to Rhonda Peterson, Windy Cerwick, Sue Thoma, Connie, Thoma, Jacque Thoma, Matt Thoma, Chip Dencklau, Carol Angstrom, Bob Meyer, Matt Chellean, Jill Angstrom, Julie Barkema, Jeff Weiss, Rusty McNeil and the Iowa Central Communication class.

On a sadder note. There are two gentlemen who have not missed a MAGWED in 41 years. They were Denny Vinson and Pat Lawler. Pat made it this year, but Denny passed away in February of this year. His family has graciously donated $500 to the event. In the amount of $50 to MAGWED to help fund the event and $50 to go to a participant. It is to go for the next five years. Thank you and our condolences to the Vinson family.

The MAGWED Committee thanks each and every one of you. Remember: It’s all about the kids.
