Appreciates support

To the editor:

The board and ambassadors of It Gets Better FD & Beyond wish to thank everyone who has supported us this year. We are humbled by the generosity of many individuals, businesses and organizations throughout Webster Co and beyond.

As a nonprofit that carries no overhead, no paid employees, every dollar gifted is stretched and allows us to keep going with the opportunity in the continuation efforts to help empower the youth and to give them the best outlook and resources available.

IGBFD&B would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Fort Dodge Study Group for their 35 women strong supporting us in October to acknowledge anti-bullying month and September, which was suicide prevention / awareness month. They do so much for this community and other causes and charitable needs, as we are all on the same team. We were proud to be part of their support and believing in us.

During the summer the doctors, nurses and staff from Unity Point Pulmonology, Nephrology, and Neurology, donated their time and contributions to our community cause.

Robert Wolf and his River Valley Rock Hounds allowed us to work with them at their show, helped us become educated in their love for rocks. Thank you for your many gifts.

The end of the year has us reflecting on the new friends we have met through our many events. A group who receives no federal funding but the generosity of this community and beyond has us feeling very grateful, no matter how small or large the gift.

We were lucky to receive a large anonymous gift this year and we would like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude.

To our dear Vietnam veterans who have stolen our hearts. The kids have helped raise money to get you to D.C. the best they could. In return, you have shown the boys how to be strong young men. You have taught the girls, how they should be treated. We promise we will continue to help the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight send every Webster County Vietnam veteran to D.C. to receive the welcome home you deserve.

In the words of Dr. Ed Miller, who we celebrate his integrity through our scholarship:

“A true measure in the military is the success of the people you have mentored.”

May his name live on through the great youths of the community and beyond.
