Grassley singled out for praise

BIO has named him 2018 Innovator in Biotechnology

The Biotechnology Innovation Organization is a trade organization representing biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations. It has members not only all across the United States, but also in more than 30 nations around the world.

BIO has selected U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley as its 2018 recipient of the prestigious Innovator in Biotechnology Award.

“Sen. Grassley’s leadership in supporting the biotechnology industry has supported 24,540 jobs in Iowa,” said Jim Greenwood, BIO president in chief executive officer, in announcing the award. “As we continue to grow and innovate, these good-paying jobs will not only strengthen the economy, but they will help to heal, fuel and feed the world. We look forward to continuing to work with Sen. Grassley to support these workers and the critical, life-saving work that they do in Iowa.”

Grassley has been tireless in his efforts in support of agriculture. An important part of that work is helping ensure that biotechnology innovations gain the support they need to evolve. In doing so, he is contributing greatly to the future well-being of the farm economy.

The Messenger congratulates Iowa’s senior senator on receiving this important award.

It is well-deserved recognition. We applaud BIO for selecting him for this honor.
