Sweetheart Gala is Saturday

This fundraiser deserves strong community support

The 21st annual Sweetheart Gala, a fundraising event undertaken by the Webster County component of the American Heart Association, will highlight Saturday’s social scene in Fort Dodge.

The event will be at the Best Western Starlight Village Inn & Suites, 1518 Third Ave. N.W. A social hour will commence at 6 p.m. as will a silent auction, which will continue throughout the evening. Dinner will be served at 6:45 p.m. At 7:45 p.m. a live auction will begin with Keith Dencklau serving as auctioneer and Casey Johnson as master of ceremonies. The items being offered will appeal to a wide range of interests. Music and dancing will make the evening festive for all who participate. Dean Vinchattle will serve as DJ.

The chance for a festive evening should have wide appeal. That’s an excellent reason to attend, but the gala has a very serious purpose — furthering the fight against cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death among Iowans. The money raised helps support important education and research.
