Let’s support Toys for Tots
Fareway and Marine Corps Reserve partner to help young folks
Some youngsters in families facing difficult economic situations won’t have a very festive Christmas unless charitable giving puts some toys under the tree to make their holiday brighter. That’s why Fareway stores and the Marine Corps Reserve partner to make sure that such a sad circumstance does not materialize.
Through Toys for Tots they solicit donations of new toys and monetary contributions to purchase toys. All 120 Fareway stores in Iowa participate in this worthy undertaking.
“Every store, corporatewide, does a round up or request for a donation at the register starting in late September and running through Dec. 23,” Mike Burckart, Fareway’s assistant manager in Fort Dodge, told The Messenger this week. “They ask customers if they want to round up or pay $1 or $5 for Toys for Tots.”
This important endeavor will continue in Fareway stores through Dec. 23.
The Messenger applauds this superb effort. Thanks to Fareway and the Marine Corps Reserve, many area youngsters will have a more joyous Christmas than would have been likely if this important charitable project did not exist. We urge our readers to help make this outstanding project a tremendous success once again this year.
