Family event at Crossroads Mall will be fun and informative

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today a very special undertaking will take place at the Crossroads Mall. Families from all over Fort Dodge and beyond will be taking part in KIDZMANIA.

Hosted by Linking Families and Communities, Fort Dodge Community Recreation Center and UnityPoint Health — Fort Dodge, KIDZMANIA has dual goals. It is designed to be a fun family outing. Additionally, it affords the opportunity to learn more about the wide array of resources in our town that at relevant to children and families.

“KIDZMANIA was born because we thought that holding this event would be a great way to connect the community with all the area resources,” said Elizabeth Stanek, executive director at Linking Families and Communities. “And if we are able to connect, we will be able to build stronger families and stronger kids, which will also help our community grow stronger.”

The 2017 incarnation of KIDZMANIA features Iowa State University’s Insect Zoo, Bluedorn Science Imaginarium, STEM activities for kids, balloon art by Professor VonAir & Zounds and Friends, and face painting by the St. Edmond and Fort Dodge cheer squads.

Children will have a chance to have their picture taken with assorted superheroes or and fantasy celebrities. From the Iowa League of Heroes, Batman, Wonder Woma, and Superman will be walking around Crossroads from noon to 2 p.m. Also from the Little Princess Parties, Tinkerbelle and Snow White will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Throughout the day, KIDZMANIA will have performances on the Crossroads Mall’s center stage. Offerings from Stage Door Productions, Comedia Musica Players, Hollingsworth School of Dance and Gymnastics, Vicky’s Dance and Tumbling, magic by Larry Dunbar will appeal to just about any taste.
