MARY CATHERINE CONLON

Mary Catherine Conlon, 87, of Fort Dodge passed away Sun­day, Feb­ruary 17, 2019, at the Simpson Health Care Center, Friendship Haven.

A time of family gathering, and prayers will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then the Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 3:45 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mary Kay is survived by her children, Margaret Ann Chung of Rockwall, TX, Patrick (Peggy) Conlon of Urbandale, Michael (Debra) Conlon of Urbandale, and Colleen (Jeff) Nahnsen of Callender; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, Leo (Lois) Byrne of Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Florence (Powers) Byrne; husband, Herbert Conlon in 2016; son-in-law Jaycee Chung; and sister, Margaret Ann Byrne.

Mary Catherine Byrne was born February 23, 1931, in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge; graduating Corpus Christi High School in 1949. Mary Kay then continued her education and received her RN degree from St. Joseph School of Nursing. On February 7, 1955, Mary Catherine was united in marriage to Herbert Conlon at Corpus Christi Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. She worked in the nursing field for over 44 years; until retiring in 1996. Mary Kay was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Catholic Daughters of America. She served as a Resident Advocate at the Marian Home for several years and volunteered at the Parish Office. She also helped with funeral dinners. Mary Kay enjoyed walking every day, playing the piano, knitting and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and socializing with her friends.

Memorials may be left to Hospice of Fort Dodge or to Saint Edmond Catholic Schools.
