WILLIAM STEPHENSON

LITTLETON, Colo. — William Ray Ste­phen­son, 62, formerly of Rock­well City, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 22, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with burial in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lampe Funeral Home.

William was born July 13th, 1956 in Carroll, Iowa to Leroy and Mary Ann Stephenson. William grew up on a farm near Lake City, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Diane Mannel on March 17th, 1979 and they were blessed with one son, Tony. They moved to Rockwell City, Iowa where they lived most of their life. William farmed and transported produce with his father before later becoming a truck driver with CCC of Carroll. He later pursued a career in EMS, advancing to the level of paramedic, a position he held for most of his working life and the work for which he was most proud. After graduating from Iowa Central Community College with his ADN degree, he transitioned his career by becoming a Registered Nurse and was employed in the emergency room at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. William and Diane relocated to Las Vegas where he was employed as a PAC-U RN at Spring Valley Hospital. Eventually, William and Diane returned to Rockwell City, Iowa where he became employed by Calhoun County Public Health and also assisted in farming operations with Danny and Connie Casey of Lytton, Iowa. Most recently, William and Diane relocated to Littleton, Colorado to be near family. William loved spending time with his family and friends, which often included traveling and exploring new places in his Dodge Ram pickup. He enjoyed going to the movies with his grandson and watching him play sports. One of his favorite pastimes was watching football games in the comfort of his own home.

William is survived by his wife Diane, son Tony and daughter-in-law Donna and grandson Pierce of Littleton, Colorado; Brother Harl Stephenson and his wife, Diane of Otho; sister-in-law Patty Stephenson of Lake City; sister, Kathy Stephenson of Fort Dodge; sister, Connie Falk of Rockwell City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Leroy and Mary Ann Stephenson; brother, Dennis Stephenson; sister, Susan Hammen and brother-in-law, Mark Falk.
