Gerald D. Black, 86, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

A time of family gathering and prayer will be 10:00 am Monday, October 22, 2018 in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Carpenter Cemetery in Fort Dodge with military rites provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Gerald is survived by his children, Paula Hill of Texarkana, TX, Julie (Rod) Isaacson, Lori (Brian) Breiholz, and Daniel Black all of Fort Dodge, Todd (Toni) Black of Carol Stream, IL, Jennifer Black of Des Moines, Kathryn Cook of Fort Dodge, Billie (Sallie) Constable of St. Paul, MN, Mark (Chris) Constable of Kyle, TX, Todd (Kari) Constable of Fort Dodge, and Traci (Huey) Denner of Raleigh, NC; 29 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Vivian (Casebolt) Black; wife, Sharon; daughter, Kimberly Brand; granddaughter, Rachael Robeson; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Gerald Dean Black was born May 3, 1932 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge. In January of 1951, he enlisted in the Unites States Army and served in Korea until his Honorable discharge in January of 1954. After his discharge in 1954, he married Delores Heun. The couple later divorced. In 1975, Gerald married Sharon Constable and they established their home in Fort Dodge. He worked as a sheet and metal worker with the Local 45 and retired from Midstate Plumbing and Heating in 1993 after 39 years completing sheet and metal work. Sharon passed away in 1997. Gerald worked for many years as a greeter at WalMart and retired in 2008. He was a member of Corpus Christi Church.

Memorials may be left to family discretion.
