Phillip L. Beam, 79, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Lauf­er­sweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then at 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery with military honors presented by the U.S Marine Corps Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 1856. A visitation will be on Monday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 57 years Beverly; children, Mary (Beam) Donahe-Richman of Fort Dodge; Jim Beam Sr. of Fort Dodge; and Vince (Laurie) Beam of West Plains, MO; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grand children; sons-in-law, Gary Gillespie of Gowrie; Jay Richman of Fort Dodge; daughter-in-law, Effie Keane of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Donna (Wayne) Torgeson of Fairmont MO; and Janice Toland of Glendale, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Beam and Mildred Pringle Beam; daughter, LeeAnn Gillespie in 2017; grandson, James Donahe; step-son, Jim Keane; and his brother, Jim Beam.

Phillip Lee Beam was born October 3, 1938, in Bradgate, IA. He attended and graduated from Twin Rivers High School in Bode in 1957. Phil then served 3 years with the U.S. Marine Corps. On November 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Beverly Lentz and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. For 37 years, he worked a print shop supervisor for Land O’Lakes retiring in 2000. He then worked for “Cimarron Coaches” which involved the transportation of rail road workers for several years. Phil loved his family but also enjoyed bird watching and especially bowling.
