Beatrice N. Matter, 81, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hos­pice Home in Fort Dodge from lung fail­ure. Services will be 2:00 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Bea is survived by her two children, Don Bickel and BillieJo Matter; three grandchildren, Amanda and Brandon Mapes and Cheyenne (David) Peck; her ten brothers, Ron (Jeanette) Utley, Dennis (Barb) Utley, Doug (Kristen) Utley, Joe Utley, Tony Utley, Mike Utley, Richard Utley, David Utley, Chuck (Angie) Utley, and Tom (Danni) Utley; her four sisters, Barb Tjebben, Kay Neavin, Mary Schmoker and Jessie (Dean) Hendrickson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bea is preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Gene and Bobby and her two sisters, Bev Wilson and Georgean Brighi.

Beatrice Utley, the daughter of Eugene and Eva (Peterson) Utley was born July 12, 1936 in Waterville, Minnesota. In the early 50’s Bea moved to Fort Dodge to be closer to family. She worked as a cook at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge for 27 years. Bea was a devoted mother and care giver for her disabled daughter. Her greatest love in her life was spending time with her family.
