DELBERT TELSCHAW

Delbert Telschaw, 88, of Fort Dodge passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Interment and military honors will be held in Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Delbert Telschaw, son of Walter and Olga (Hansch) Telschaw, was born on October 23, 1929 in Vincent, Iowa. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Delbert was a self-taught master carpenter and farmer in the Vincent area until his semi-retirement in 1994. Following retirement he and his wife Dorothy moved to Fort Dodge. Delbert loved fishing, traveling and was co-owner of Central Builders Lumber. He was involved with Comedia Musica Players, helping build stage sets for several years. Delbert was a trustee and lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vincent and current member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Telschaw; his children Debra Olofson of Minden, IA, Craig Telschaw of Polo, IL, Pam Lentsch of Fort Dodge, IA, Sherry (Henry) Cockfield of Homestead, FL, Keith (Sandy) Strutzenberg of Chandler, AZ, Jane (Doug) Jones of Des Moines, IA, Rolf (Jennifer) Strutzenberg of Redondo Beach, CA, Dan (Deborah) Jasper of Des Moines, IA and Jeff (Melissa) Jasper of Fort Dodge, IA; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; his siblings Alice Eisenhauer, Janice Kloss, Lois Dencklau, all of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife JoAnn, second wife Eva, and his sisters Mildred Bothe and Evelyn Quick.

Memorials may be directed towards the St. Paul’s Building Fund.
