LINDA L. SCHAFER

Linda L. Schafer, 67, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Merle Hay Cemetery in Glidden. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Linda is survived by her daughters, Michelle (David) Lawton of Fort Dodge; Renee Schafer of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Connor and Bryn Lawton; 2 step-grandchildren, Craig and Patrick Lawton; sisters, Janet Parent of Orland Park, IL; Mary Steimer of Omaha, NE; Judy Testroet of Carroll; sister-in-law, Judy Gibson of Carroll; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jelste “Barney” and Marie (Feld) Sapp; husband. Jerry Schafer on February 22, 2017; and her siblings, RichardSapp; Raymond Sapp; Ruth Olberding, and Robert Sapp.

Linda Louise Sapp was born on June 14, 1950 in Carroll. She graduated from Kuemper High School in 1968. In Sept. of 1968, Linda attended St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Carroll and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. On November 6, 1971, she was united in marriage to Jerry Schafer. The couple established their home in Carroll. They moved to Fort Dodge in 1981 after Jerry was promoted to Manager of the Fareway Meat Market. Linda was the manager at Unity Point Family Practice until May of 2017 and then began helping with the opening of the Unity Point Specialty Clinic. She enjoyed crafting, gardening and spending time with her family. Linda enjoyed the annual Sapp reunions in Carroll. But most importantly she loved her grandchildren Connor & Bryn with all her heart who fondly called her “Honey” instead of Grandma.

Memorials may be left to discretion of the family.
